Originally from the midlands, Fiona Mason
moved to Wivenhoe in the late 1980's to read Philosophy at the University
of Essex, graduating with an MA in Continental Philosophy in 1992. After a
spell in retail bookselling, Fiona developed a career in arts management,
working in a range of contexts including venue, touring theatre and
national dance agency. After 6 years as General Manager of Ipswich based
National Dance Agency DanceEast, Fiona left to embark upon an independent
career, founding Fiona Mason Projects (formerly Arts Services) in 2005 (www.fionamason.co.uk).
Since then she has produced the work of key regional and London based
artists and provided artist and project management, fundraising, and
consultancy services to the performing arts.
A keen musician, other interests include
yoga - which she taught yoga for many years including regular classes
above the Greyhound Pub in the High Street – and working on the house
and garden she shares with her husband Martin Waite.
