14 November 2008 - Wivenhoe resident David McCaskey invited to help judge the Hotel Marketing Association Awards 2008.

Colchester Institute lecturer and Wivenhoe resident David McCaskey, has been invited back to help judge the Hotel Marketing Association Awards 2008.

After successfully being invited along to join the judging panel for the first time last year, the Business and Management lecturer is thrilled to be bringing his expert opinions to the judging process once again. See http://www.hotelmarketingassociation.com/

Sponsored by American Express, The Hotel Marketing Association Awards are the Oscars for the hospitality marketing industry and are highly contested with over 40 submissions in six categories from the very best UK and International hotel companies.

David joined the illustrious panel last year. On being invited back, David explained “It continues to be an honour to be invited along to judge such prestigious industry awards. I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the panel last year and am thrilled to be involved with it all again in 2008.”

All teaching staff at Colchester Institute regularly undertake work experience and initiatives in the areas in which they teach, in order to update and understand their industry and keep their knowledge and teaching current.

David ensures his knowledge is kept up-to-date through his membership to a variety of professional institutions. Currently he is a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality, and a Chartered Marketer and Member of the Hotel Marketing Association.

David is very pleased that, like so many of Wivenhoe’s artists, his work is on permanent display on the Wivenhoe Encyclopaedia www.wivenhoe.gov.uk/people/mccaskey.htm His work also achieves much wider dissemination via Intute, the GISC sponsored Social Science website www.intute.ac.uk/socialsciences.

David’s current work includes a January article for Hospitality Review on Marketing and Tourism in Colchester and two papers for CHME’s University of Brighton Conference 2009.

Notes:   Winners will be announced at the Hotel Marketing Association’s Christmas Luncheon at The Millennium Hotel London Mayfair on Monday 15th December 2008.  Visit www.hotelmarketingassociation.com for more details.
