12th January 2008 - David McCaskey Chosen to Judge Prestigious International Hotel Marketing Awards

David McCaskeyColchester Institute lecturer and Wivenhoe resident, David McCaskey, felt very honoured last week, when he was chosen as one of eight, well-regarded individuals to judge and determine the winners of the HMA Hotel Marketing Awards 2007.

Sponsored by American Express, The Hotel Marketing Association Awards are the Oscars for the marketing industry and are highly contested with over 40 submissions in six categories from the very best UK and International hotel companies. David joined the illustrious panel comprised of: two principal industry consultants; three managing directors from specialist advertising agencies and two senior European executives from American Express.

On being chosen as a judge, David said, “This is by far the best industry updating I have ever been part of. It was an honour to be chosen, as the only academic on the panel, and a very rewarding experience.”

David is currently completing a paper, co-authored with Amanda Riches, Head of Quality and Guest Insight at Whitbread’s Premier Inns, on the company’s innovative guestfeed back system and will be presented at the Annual Council for Hospitality Management Education’s Research Conference at the University of Strathclyde in May 2008. This paper joins David’s ever increasing collection of published academic journals, reviews and papers, which can be found online at The Wivenhoe Encyclopaedia.      www.wivenhoe.gov.uk/people/mccaskey.htm

All teaching staff at Colchester Institute regularly undertake work experience and initiatives in the area in which they teach, in order to update and understand their industry and to keep their knowledge and teaching current.
