Singing for Fun, in the British Legion Hall

The day was a chance
to check out some of the events that might be offered in the refurbished
Engine Shed. For the
organisers, getting to know the audience and the type of activities in
which they are interested provided some valuable insights.
By the time the
Engine Shed is able to open we hope to have a vibrant artistic community
banging on the door to get in and start creating.
The
Local Motion festival continues with the Sounding Out Weekend –
October 18th & 19th
– an opportunity for people who have never been artists before to work
together with established artists and musicians to create an entirely new
piece of music.
The event takes place
at the Royal British Legion Hall on the Quayside at Wivenhoe and will run
from 10 am to 4.30pm on both days.
This session forms
the Autumn part of the Four Seasons project and will become part of the Playing
Out Concert with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields at Charter
Hall on November 29th.
Places
for the October Weekend are limited and must be booked in advance.
So call now on (01206) 826930 to book.
Places cost £3.00 for one day, which includes a snack lunch.
If you come to both days, you can get the second day for half
price.
Jacqueline Thomas,
The Engine Shed’s Arts Development officer said: “The Engine Shed is
the inspiration behind the Local Motion Project. Building on the industrial heritage of the area, the Local
Motion Project aims to capture the dynamic and creative spirit of
Wivenhoe today to turn abandoned, disassembled things into new assemblies
of people who create new things together.”
