Sat 4 AN AFTERNOON WITH NOBEL LAUREATE DEREK WALCOTT in the Ivor Crewe Lecture Hall of the University of Essex. Celebrated Caribbean poet, playwright, essayist, and visual artist, Derek Walcott, will be in conversation with Professor Marina Warner and Dr Maria Cristina Fumagalli of the Department of Literature, Film, and Theatre Studies (LiFTS); and will then give a reading from his work. The event will open with the presentation of an honorary doctorate to Derek Walcott by the University in a ceremony presided by the Chancellor, Lord Phillips of Sudbury.
