Saturday 15th July 2006 - Walk a Mile for Sports Relief

Across the country, groups of people had been urged to go the extra mile in aid of Sport Relief on Saturday, 15th July, 2006. And Wivenhoe joined in with a group of people, led by Town Mayor Cllr Penny Kraft, on a walk from The Flag to The Quay.

Amongst those on the walk were Wivenhoe members of Colchester Red Hats, a group of ladies who get together a couple of times each month for social reasons. A number of these ladies had got themselves sponsored for this occasion. Others who joined in made a donation on the day.

Mayor Penny hopes more than £300 will be sent off to the Sport Relief Charity.

In fact, when all the money came in, a cheque for £458.50 was sent Sport Relief Fund 2006. So very well done everybody who helped raise this sum.
