Wivenhoe Remembrance Day
         -    Sunday 11th November, 2007

An invitation to participate

Please do come and participate in Wivenhoe's Annual Remembrance Day. Join with members of the Royal British Legion Wivenhoe Branch, our MP, Town and Ward Councillors, Church Leaders, Scouts and Guides and others in various activities on this special day.

The traditional Remembrance Service will be held in St Mary's Church this year, starting at 2.30pm

The Royal British Legion will be very pleased if you would first join them in a procession from the Congregational Church to St Mary's leaving the Congregational Church at 2.15pm (assemble 2pm). This procession will be led by the Colchester Boys Brigade Band.

The Wivenhoe Scout & Guide Association's Young People's Act of Remembrance will take place in the William Loveless Hall as usual at 2.30pm. There is an open invitation for all young people to join this service at which members of Wivenhoe's 10 Scout & Guide units will offer their thoughts about war and the affect of war on people's lives. Parents and friends are also very welcome to attend.

The Young People will process to the War Memorial at 3.15pm.

The Service at the War Memorial will start at 3.30pm

Following this, the British Legion invite everyone to their Hall on the Quay for a cup of tea, or possibly something stronger!

In the evening, at 7.30pm, in St Mary's Church, St Mary's Singers will perform a programme which will include Missa Brevis in B flat (KV 275) by Mozart together with other choral music by Faure and Elgar. The organist will be John Rippin. Graham Wadley, Director of Music, would be pleased to welcome all residents to this evening of reflective music and singing.
