THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION
WIVENHOE BRANCH

2006 Poppy Appeal

This year’s Poppy Appeal has started very well and looks to be heading for another resounding success. We were blessed with some fine weather over remembrance tide and this has probably helped our cause.

The team have been hard at work over the last few weeks with street collections outside the CO-OP, the News Agents and the railway station.

We also made our annual two day collection at the main entrance to the Greenstead Tesco store. Our local shops, pubs and business have again given wonderful support by permitting collection boxes to be displayed on their premises.

The 5th Wivenhoe Brownies held another sponsored silence in aid of the appeal and raised a magnificent £224.50. We thank them all very much. Static collections were also made at Essex University, which raised £431.13; thanks to all the staff and students.

The Total raised so far in 2006 is   £5,939.88

We would like to thank everyone for their kind and generous donations.

All money raised is added the central fund and enables the Legion to achieve its welfare support for all serving & ex-service personnel, their families & dependants.

I would like to express my personal thanks to the wonderful team of volunteers, who have done so well again this year, I include everyone no matter how much or how little you did. I would also like to welcome this year’s newcomers to the team and thank them for offering their services to our cause. Thank you all very, very much.
