Saturday 6th March 2004.  The 2004 Wivenhoe Mayor's Ball proved yet another glittering occasion with Mayor Gilli looking absolutely wonderful for the highlight of her year.

120 people enjoyed a Champagne Reception attended also by the Deputy Mayor of Colchester, John Bouckley and his wife Sheelagh. This was followed by a marvellous meal that was efficiently served.

The Hall had been transformed by a hard-working team who had also helped to organise a Grand Tombola. Prizes had been generously donated by many people who attended the Ball as well by many businesses in the town.

There was also a separate Draw for a year's supply of fish and chips for two people, donated by David Henley and a battery-powered child's Mercedes Coupe donated by Mike Lumsden of Mercedes-Benz.

The evening, which started at 7.15pm went on to 1am. Music for dancing was provided by Short People who did a great job in keeping everyone dancing after the meal.

The event has raised £1,670 for the Mayor's Charity Fund.
