| May 2007 - Wivenhoe Encyclopedia is
5 years old
The Wivenhoe Encyclopedia was launched 5 years ago on 10th May 2002.
The number of visitors to Wivenhoe's community web site has grown steadily
since then to between 80 and 160 people per day. So now, more than 120,000
visits to the web site since its launch.
Many Wivenhoe organisations now have home pages in the Encyclopedia helping
to promote events and creating a record of their activities and
achievements. Most of Wivenhoe's artists and musicians are featured in it
too. You can find details of Wivenhoe's shops and businesses, read Town
Council minutes, find out facts about Wivenhoe's past and see details of
future events.
At least 4 or 5 new pages are added each week, and many existing pages
get updated too.
The purpose of the web site is to promote better communication in
Wivenhoe and to record what makes Wivenhoe special - its people, its
organisations, its events, its location and its past.
If you have something you would like to add to the web site, then get
in touch with the Webmaster, Cllr Peter Hill - tel: 01206 823073 or
