21 July 2007 - Theft of Coping Stones at Wivenhoe's Old Cemetery

Did anyone see someone removing brickwork from Wivenhoe's Old Cemetery during this last week?

About 450 coping stones have been stolen. We think starting possibly on Wednesday 18th July, and then on several subsequent occasions.

The coping stones are an important part of the wall surrounding this lovely old cemetery built in 1858.

Please call the Town Council offices (01206 822864) if you know anything, or the police 01206 762212.  Thank you.
