The Wivenhoe Encyclopedia

On 27th September, 2005, Cllr Tom Roberts, Chairman of Wivenhoe Town Council and Town Mayor advised he had received a letter of resignation from Chris Thompson.

Chris has been a long-standing and valued member of the Town Council. He was Town Mayor in 1990/91 and had two spells on the Council (for list of former Town Mayors, click here).

The vacancy has been formally posted as required (see notice). Presuming no election will be requested, the Town Council will be looking to fill the vacancy created by Chris's resignation by a co-option.

People interested in what is the role and function of a Town Councillor might like to have a look at copies of  minutes of Town Council meetings to get a feel for local issues we deal with and areas of specific responsibility. Click here for the Town Council's home page and to get links to pdf copies of minutes.

If you would like to be considered for the vacancy, please write to the Town Clerk, by Monday 14th November, giving some details about yourself and why you would like to be considered.
