| Report of Wivenhoe's Annual Town Meeting held on
Thursday, 12th May, 2005
Over
60 residents attended a full evening which started with the presentation
of cheques from the Mayor's Charity Fund to 21 organisations. Town Mayor,
Cllr Peter Hill said a near-record amount of £6,815 had been raised and
that he was grateful for the help and support of the Mayor's Charity Fund
Organising Committee and everybody who had attended or contributed to a
wide variety of successful events during the year. For picture and list of

Cllr Peter Hill and fellow councillors present (Deputy Mayor, Cllr Tom
Roberts and Councillors Dave Purdey, Penny Kraft, Ken Rogers, Brian
Sinclair, Frances Richards and Cyril Liddy) assisted by Town Clerk
Antoinette Stinson, presented their Annual Report, highlighting particular

Peter Hill referred everybody to the leaflet given out which set set
out the Town Council's recently drawn up General Aims and 47 Specific
Objectives for the year ahead. He invited everyone to read these carefully
and provide comments to the Town Council. Click

Amongst those thanked during the evening for their contribution to life
in Wivenhoe was Paul Alden to whom Peter Hill presented two bottles of
port for technical support provided by Paul for the Wivenhoe Encyclopedia

here).
Deputy Mayor Cllr Tom Roberts introduced Stella Meesters from the Rural
Community Council of Essex who spoke about Village Appraisals and Town
Plans. The meeting agreed with Tom Robert's initiative to establish
a group of people to take this idea forward and Eugene Kraft, Albey
Stinson, Dave Harrison, and Tony Evans volunteered to help Tom Roberts.
It
was then the turn of CBC's Planning Policy Manager Dave Cookson, with
colleague John Davies from Planning Department, to tell the meeting about
the consultation arrangements for the new Local Development Framework (LDF)
arrangements where CBC are required under new Government regulations to
consult first on the the methodology for input into the LDF, which
replaces the recently agreed Local Plan for the Colchester Borough, and
then in a second stage to consult on the planning proposals in the LDF
itself.
Dave Cookson invited everyone to participate in the Local Development
