The Wivenhoe Encyclopedia

August 2005 - Cllr Neil Lodge co-opted onto Wivenhoe Town Council

I was born in Colchester during the war. I attended the Wilson Marriage School in Colchester and later became a machine tool fitter for the 600 group at Colchester Lathes for 25 years.

During that period I got married to a Wivenhoe girl called Shirley Dadds and moved to Wivenhoe. After spending 14 years in Wivenhoe, I then changed my job to become the caretaker of the Colne Community School, and then subsequently the Site Manager, where I lived for some 23 years.

I returned to Wivenhoe to live 2 years ago. I have one son called Stephen who now lives and works in Barcelona.

My interests are Archery, Golf and I have a particular soft spot for young people, as I also spent 14 years in the Youth Service working in the Wivenhoe Centre and the Brightlingsea Centre.

I believe the main reason I would like to help in our local community is because I do believe in fair play for all.
