At the Town Council’s Annual Meeting on Monday, 17th May 2004, Cllr Peter Hill was elected Town Mayor for the ensuing year.

He presented a bouquet of flowers to Cllr Gilli Primrose on behalf of all the Councillors and congratulated her on an excellent year as Town Mayor.

Cllr Tom Roberts was elected Deputy Town Mayor

Cllr Peter Hill proposed the setting of 5 key objectives for the Council to work towards in the year ahead.  These are:

  1. Health Centre – to work closely with the Colchester Primary Care Trust and local doctors to secure a new Health Centre for Wivenhoe.
  2. Engine Shed – to obtain planning consent to convert the old railway building in Wivenhoe station car park into a community arts centre.
  3. Skateboard Park – to progress plans for a skateboard park in Wivenhoe.
  4. Broad Lane Sports Ground – to help further development of it as a significant community sports centre.
  5. Cycle Track – to achieve a cycle track from Wivenhoe Fire Station to the University.

Cllr Peter Hill has previously served as Town Mayor in 1986/87 and again in 1995/96.
