February 2008 - The Fit4Life Day at University of Essex on Friday 4th April 2008

The University of Essex, Colchester is hosting a Fit4Life Day on Friday 4th April 2008 that will be a fun filled and educational day during the Easter holidays.

We are inviting secondary school children, families and individuals of all ages to come along and participate.

The University, together with the Physiology Society, is offering a unique opportunity for children (their parents and teachers) to explore what a healthy lifestyle is, and how it can be achieved.

In a series of information sessions running through out the day you can find out what happens to the body during exercise, what the Olympics can do for you, and how the University is contributing to knowledge about health and exercise. Or question some of the UK's leading health and fitness experts, and get to meet sporting stars of today, and also the future.

Participants can test their fitness levels, and find out how these can be improved, in variety of physical challenges - ranging from how fast you can run, how high you can jump or how flexible for you are. There will also be the opportunity to have-a-go at sports taster sessions, including yoga and climbing, and to test your knowledge of what a healthy lifestyle is with a myth buster session.

The day is suitable for the over 12's, with the challenges and information sessions linking in with the national science curriculum.

Fit4Life is a FREE event and takes place at the University of Essex, Colchester on Friday 4th April.
