September 2006 - The Wivenhoe Weekend

Saturday and Sunday, 9th and 10th September, were designated by Wivenhoe Society as Wivenhoe Weekend. It was a busy weekend with so many events going on it was impossible to get round them although Town Mayor, Cllr Penny Kraft, had a jolly good attempt to do so. Click here to see the full programme of events put on by 9 local organisations.

Below are just a few memories of the weekend. The Crabbing Competition with crowds lining all the Quay and West Quay to catch the biggest crabs they could; the Wivenhoe Society's own two days of providing entertainment and stalls in St Mary's Churchyard; the Wivenhoe Watercolour Challenge; WAGA's Wivenhoe Show in the William Loveless Hall, the Bowls Club's finals over the weekend, folk music at The Horse & Groom, and more.
