Wivenhoe St John Ambulance
Brigade

Sadly, on 31st March, 2006 the remaining members of Wivenhoe St John decided they no longer wanted to devote the time and energy it requires to be a member of St. John and they all resigned after a great many years service between them.

The Wivenhoe Branch of St John Ambulance Brigade has been in existence since at least the 1940s. They acquired the building in Chapel Street in 1961, having previously owned a meeting place in Hamilton Road.

The ambulance costs £40,000 and has a 'life expectancy' of ten years. There are similar vehicles at West Mersea and Manningtree.
