Quay Quilters Exhibition in the Wm Loveless Hall - 1999

Here are some photographs of just a few of the exhibits which decorated all the walls of the Hall, with hardly a square inch not covered by some wonderful piece of craftsmanship.

Above: Carnard á la Crafty Kate – Kathy Redmile, St. Oysth. Made using a picture from a child’s colouring book. He made me laugh and still has me ‘in stitches’.

Above: Three Wise Men – Mary Sealey, Colchester. Taken from a stencil and enlarged on a photocopying machine.

Above: Stripy waistcoat – Janice Alston, Wivenhoe. Inspired by a patchwork book cover.

To the right of the waistcoat, above. Sophie’s Quilt – Huguette Savoie, previously Wivenhoe now Beverley, Yorks  "It is called Sophie’s quilt after my cat who claimed the quilt as her own before it was finished."

Sunbonnet Sue Wall Hanging – May you play forever – Kathy Redmile, St. Oysth. The news of the Dunblane tragedy broke whilst I was working on one of the blocks for this wall hanging and the next day one of the tributes was ‘May you Play Forever’. Kathy Redmile.

Note: All photography by Keith Alston
