The Wivenhoe Encyclopedia

After a struggle to find enough interested people, Quay Quilters started in September 1997 with an initial membership of seventeen people. By 2003, that number had grown to sixty and by 2007, there is a waiting list!

Meetings are held on a Monday once a month in the Wm Loveless Hall from 10.00am until 4.00pm; members come and go at whim during that period.  There is an annual membership charge of £5.00 and a fee of £2.50 for each meeting attended.

3rd Exhibition of Patchwork and Quilting

Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th October, 2007

William Loveless Hall, High Street, Wivenhoe

It is a self-help group, although there are a number of workshops throughout the year, some taught by professional patchwork and quilting teachers, and some in-house.

The group had its first exhibition in October 1999 when they raised over a thousand pounds, which was split between the Mayor of Wivenhoe's Charity Fund and Breakthrough Breast Cancer. The group made two quilts and numerous other prizes especially for the raffle at the exhibition. During 2003, all the group's energies were concentrated on its second exhibition held in October that year.

And in October 2007, the group held its third exhibition - click here for some photographs.
