“Pam Ayres
on acid “ and “ a cross between Eminem and Joyce Grenfell”.
That’s how PoetryWivenhoe’s next featured poet has previously
been described.
Stand-up
poet, writer and entertainer Jude Simpson has performed on radio,
and at festivals and events across the
UK
, including BBC Radio 4’s “Saturday Live” programme. She comes
to Wivenhoe on Friday May 16th 2008.
Jude combines insightful observational comedy with witty wordplay,
poetry, rap and song to create a unique act which leaves audiences
smiling, laughing and occasionally hungry.
Her
performance style is engaging and energetic - from a poem describing
the characteristics of a female football fan to songs about big
bones, lost love and found gadgets, she has the ability to leave you
with a warm glow and a suspicion that maybe, just maybe,
everything’s going to be OK……
Jude performs
at PoetryWivenhoe at the Congregational Hall; 101, High Street,
Wivenhoe. Tickets are £5 from the Wivenhoe Bookshop (01206) 824050
