In August Nineteen Fifty One
In sunny Wivenhoe,
One of the local gentry
Decided to have a go
At starting an Over Sixties Club,
Which was a great success
With the local ladies and gentlemen
Turning up in their Sunday best
To attend the Over Sixties Club
At almost all the meetings
And looked forward to a little chat
And a mutual exchange of greetings.
Fifty three years on from then
We are still a happy crowd,
Still enjoying the Over Sixties Club
Of which we are so proud.
Our activities are different now
We don’t play cards or darts,
Instead our game of Bingo
Uplifts us in our hearts.
We have a good committee,
Who work hard and give their time
To keep the Over Sixties Club
Running as in its prime.
You must have heard about us,
So please why don’t you come
To the Wivenhoe Over Sixties Club
And join us in our fun.

We are the Over Sixties from Wivenhoe,
We are getting old and a little slow.
We have to walk, we can not run,
Down to our club to have some fun.
There’s Bingo played, good meals and tea,
Why don’t you just come and see,
Getting home is no big fuss,
We just hop on the Communty Bus.
The driver is a real good chap,
He helps us all and that’s a fact,
He helps us in and out the bus,
And does it all without a fuss.
A man gave a talk the other day,
About the army and its way,
It really was so good to hear
him talk about it with good cheer.
So come on folks get into gear,
Come and join us when we’re here,
You will find you like us all,
When we’re together in the hall
