News from the Wivenhoe Over 60's club - Spring 2005

We held our Annual General Meeting on Friday 14th January, 2005. The Chairman, Doug Stockwell, thanked all those who had contributed to a successful year particularly the Officers and Committee.

The election of Officers and Committee for the ensuing year was as follows:-

Chairman             Doug Stockwell
Vice Chairman      George Love
Treasurer            Diane Duffield
Secretary            Denise Smith
Committee           Roy Hemstedt, Vera Love, Jean Gale, Sheila Stockwell, 
                         Ivy White, George White.

The meeting was followed with tea and biscuits and games of Bingo.

We had our first lunch at the William Loveless Hall on February 18th, organised by Jean Gale and Margaret Bucke. This comprised of fish and chips, fruit salad and ice cream and a glass of wine. After the meal, a very interesting talk and slide show about old Wivenhoe was given by local historian, Don Smith.

Our first outing 16th March is a return visit to Lt Easton WI for afternoon tea, preceded by a tour around North West Essex. We have seats available if any one wishes to join us, we leave Wivenhoe at 1pm. Please book with Denise Smith 823308

Our next lunch in the William Loveless Hall will be on 15th April.

Meeting Dates for 2005:

All Fridays: 11th March, 1st April, 29th April, 13th May, 27thMay, 10th June, 8th July, 22nd July, 5th August, 2nd September, 16th September, 30th September, 28th October, 11th November, 25th November, 9th December (Christmas Lunch)

Lunch Meetings will be on : 15th April, 17th June, 19th August, 14th October  -  Commencing at 1pm in the William Loveless Hall.

Christmas Lunch will be on Friday 9th December commencing with drinks at 12noon.

Outings:         16th March, Lt Easton WI, Afternoon Tea.

 18th May,  Ashbocking WI, Afternoon Tea.

 13th July,  Dunwich, Fish Lunch.

 21st September Tiptree,  Afternoon Tea.

Special outing: Angie Diggens Concert at The Westcliff Theatre, Clacton. 26th June 3pm. We are arranging a block booking of fifty tickets and a coach for this concert. Price of Theatre tickets and coach, £8.50 Concessions £7.50.  Contact Denise on 823308 or Doug on 824603 if you would like to come.
