Open Gardens

21st - 22nd June 2003

Right - the meadow garden and pond, one of several features at 'Cherry Trees' in Stanley Road

Once again, people had the opportunity of exploring gardens of many different types and styles in different parts of Wivenhoe. Organised by Phyllida and Richard Joel, from St Mary's Church, proceeds from the event will be shared between St Mary's, the Salvation Army and the Colchester Hospice (see result below).  23 gardens took part this year, with many of them selling plants, providing teas, paintings and various other items.

The weather was really kind on Saturday, very sunny and hot. Umbrellas became very useful on Sunday as protection from the occasion light shower.
