| The Nottage Summer Exhibition
- 2006
Each year Wivenhoe's Nottage Maritime Institute puts together a
Summer Exhibition and invites people to come to The Nottage on Wivenhoe Quay on Sunday afternoons during the
summer to visit the
Exhibition, and for the price of a donation too.
As something of a change, this year the exhibition is entitled “Ernie
Turner – Wivenhoe’s naïve artist. Paintings and models from the
1960s and 70s”.
The Exhibition commences Sunday 7th May and continues to the 10th
September, and each Sunday in between these dates, from 2pm to 5pm.
To coincide with the Exhibition, the Nottage are planning to do
cards of one of the 'Ernies' for sale with profits to the Nottage.
Later in the summer, the Nottage hopes there will be a booklet about
Ernie and his work.
So make a point going to the Nottage Maritime Institute at least
on one Sunday this summer. It houses a fascinating collection of
memorabilia, apart from the opportunity to see a collection of work
by one of Wivenhoe's best known artists of the 1960s and 70s.
