October 2007 - Award for Wivenhoe News

We are pleased to report that Wivenhoe News was short-listed for the final round of the Essex Life Community Magazine Awards 2007.  There had been almost 90 entries from all over the county – the largest number ever for this competition.  And so we joined a prestigious short list of 13 finalists at the Awards Evening on 3rd October at Le Talbooth restaurant in Dedham .

After the opening speeches by the Executive Director of the Rural Community Council of Essex and by the other sponsors, came the awards themselves – three Merit Award winners, a "Best Less Than Monthly Magazine", a "Best Monthly or More Magazine" and an overall winner.

Of the six award-winners, Wivenhoe News was delighted to receive a Merit Award.  Our near neighbour, the St Osyth News, was declared winner of the "Best Monthly" and the overall winner of the competition was the Theydon Bois Village News.
