10th May 2003 - FOSM celebrate 10 years with lunch attended by 60 people

Before the lunch held in St Mary's on Saturday 10th May, at the AGM, Chairman Jane Cole told everyone that Friends of St Mary's had raised £20,000 since its formation in 1993 for spending on the fabric of the Church building. Significant contributions had been made towards the Tower restoration fund and money also given for the restoration of the bells. This year the Committee will be funding the cost of a new Sound System including a loop hearing system. Much of the fund-raising had come for FOSM designs - a range of many different gift items that had sold well over the years.

Jane and the Committee were congratulated on their achievements, especially with Wivenhoe News. This had started as a newsletter for members which had now grown into a 28 page quarterly magazine with advertising and was showing a small profit. With 500 copies of Wivenhoe News printed each quarter, Wivenhoe News is reaching a significant proportion of the people in Wivenhoe.

Following the AGM, a celebratory buffet lunch was held attended by 60 people including Town Mayor and Mayoress, Cllr David and Angela Craze, and Deputy Town Mayor, Cllr Gilli Primrose. The wonderful buffet was prepared by local caterers, Party Pieces.
