December 2007 - Another record year for the Scout & Guide Christmas Card Post

We delivered more cards this year than any previous year, beating 2005 when the tally was almost 3,400 cards. This year the figure was over 3,600 cards with £370 raised for our funds. So thank you to everybody who used our service.

We started our Christmas Cards delivery service in 1982 when we raised just £29.29.  Actually it is not so much the money that is important but the feeling we are doing something of service to the community, especially for those people unable to walk far and for whom postage stamps are an expensive item.

I am grateful too to all the leaders, youngsters and many other volunteers who help sort the cards on the Saturday evening and then deliver them the following. At least it was a nice day today to be walking around Wivenhoe's streets.
