Wivenhoe Scout & Guide Association AGM 2003
| Thursday, 22nd March, 2003 - During the formal part of
the AGM, Chris Thomas was re-elected as Secretary for a further
three years, having first become secretary in 1987; Treasurer,
Trevor Wilson, reported another very healthy financial year when the
Association's income for the first time exceeded £10,000; and
Chairman of the Association, Peter Hill, mentioned the hard work of
all Leaders and others in running the 11 scouting and guiding Units
comprising around 200 youngsters and the successful year with so
many events and activities.
On behalf of the Association, Peter Hill presented Hazel Laurence
with gifts of a watch and a Brownie Owl on her retirement as a
Leader. Peter told everyone he remembered welcoming Hazel to the
Association in 1977, then as a Assistant Leader in 2nd Wivenhoe
Brownies. She subsequently took over the Pack, and later became
Beaver Leader and finally a Leader of Cracknell
Cubs. |

| Guiding Division Commissioner, Bonnie Hill, thanked
all of the people attending, and especially the Guiders present, for
their friendship and fellowship in Guiding that made the movement so
special, and especially here in Wivenhoe.
Local Guide District Commissioner Lorraine Pemberton thanked all
of the Wivenhoe Leaders for their hard work and support during the
last year in promoting Guiding.
Derek Tatum, Scouting District Commissioner, took the opportunity
of presenting of presenting two certificates (see picture) as well
as congratulating everyone on a good year. |

| Town Mayor, Cllr Gilli Primrose, attending the AGM as
her first formal engagement having been elected Mayor just a few
days previously, congratulated everyone on their achievements and
thanked everyone on behalf of the Wivenhoe community for their
valued contribution.

| Following the short formal part of the evening, the
two scouts from Wivenhoe who went to the International Scout
Jamboree in Thailand at the end of December, Daniel Hunt and Stuart
Reed, gave an illustrated talk about their experiences of a 'once in
a life-time' trip which included spending three days in Korea
staying with a family.
