| March 2005 - Pirates
seen fighting with police in Wivenhoe?
To celebrate their first twenty five years the
society has chosen “THE PIRATES OF
PENZANCE” (or The Slave of Duty) to give it its correct
sub-title, as this year's offering. First presented in 1879, this
was the fifth comic opera that Gilbert & Sullivan wrote and it
has remained a favourite ever since.
Directed by Clare Durance, the enthusiastic
cast will work the usual crazy humorous plot, interspersed with
plenty of well known musical numbers that are directed by Hilary
Brunning and accompanied by John Wolton. This production should give
audiences a night to remember in Wivenhoe. Leave your valuables at
home, though, as you can never trust pirates!
Performances in the William Loveless Hall at
7.30pm from Tuesday 15th to
Saturday 19th March, 2005.
Tickets cost £5 & £6 for Tuesday &
Wednesday and £6 & £7 for the rest of the week. (Usual
concessions Tuesday only): They are available 9am – 5pm from the
lower Post Office, High Street and Crossways (Spar) shop at Wivenhoe
Cross.
