Spring Course 2003:  A HISTORY OF BRIDGES

W.E.A. Wivenhoe Branch announce our Spring Course will deal with the above subject.

Venue: the Methodist Church Hall, The Avenue, Wivenhoe

 Date and times:  10 weekly lectures on Monday evenings commencing at 7.30 pm.

 Term starts:  13 January 2003.

 Our tutor will be Mr Brian Bourn.

The subject will be examined in a broadly historical way but in order to understand how developments came about the major types of bridges and the building materials that made them possible will be considered as well as the way in which the appearance of bridges has been influenced by fundamental engineering considerations.

Full copies of the syllabus, booklist and enrolment forms will be available on the first evening.  Doors will be open from 7.00 pm to allow extra time for the enrolment formalities.

The fees for the course of 10 classes will be as follows:-

Full fee                        £26.00

Concessionary fee          £19.50
