| June 2007 - June Market and Art on
the Railings
Wow, a blue sky all day long and the weather forecast a few days
previously suggested some rain! It made for another enjoyable occasion, a
great one for socialising, enjoying some nice food at lunch-time whilst
listening to the band, finding another picture for your home, a book or
two to read, another plant to squeeze into all ready overcrowded flower beds,
some fun with the tombolas, a present or two from the various craft stalls
and generally supporting the many worthy causes which had stalls all
around the Church. Well done Mary Hignell and the St Mary's
Fund-Raising Committee plus all the great many people who volunteer to help at this
lovely occasion. An occasion that rather sums up the spirit of Wivenhoe: warm,
friendly, full of interest and character.

Below: The band were much enjoyed. Originally the Ken Ewards Trio
but sadly the double bass player and the organist both died during
this last year. So this year it was the Thingamebob Trio with
Wivenhoe resident Brian South on the drums (still) with Roger,
guitar and vocals, and 87 year old Reg on the
saxophone. |
