| 7th June 2003 - June Market and Art on the Railings make
record profits.
Organisers of the June Market and Art on the Railings in St Mary's
Churchyard set out to make this year's event the best ever and they
succeeded, despite weather that threatened rain at times, but never
actually did. With people coming through the Churchyard from 8.30am
and still buying at 3pm when stalls were packing up, the organisers made
£2,650 towards the running cost of St Mary's Church.
Not only did the Church stalls do well, but the 30 local
organisations which also had stalls of all kinds, went home well pleased.
Over £2,000 of paintings were also sold.
Bonnie said "This was Wivenhoe at its best. We always enjoy strong
local support but we had a considerable number of visitors from outside of
Wivenhoe. We had many favourable comments from them, saying it was very
nice to come to such a friendly and traditional event. The feeling of
community was very evident and added to the day. It was good also that so
many other organisations benefited from the event. With more artists than
ever displaying their work, the standard was exceptional, and really made
June Market and Art on the Railings a very special day again in the
Wivenhoe calendar."

The Ken Edwards Trio provided some
light jazz during the lunchtime period and well into the afternoon,
which were much appreciated. |
