Pantomime Group - MOTHER GOOSE
The Wivenhoe Smith family are stalwarts of the Wivenhoe
Pantomime Group, but this year three of them are having a crisis of
identity.
Greg Smith who has played a range of villains and
buffoons before, is donning the Dame’s skirts this year to play Mother
Goose. In addition to
adjusting to this sex change, he is now playing his daughter’s Megan’s
mother – and she is now his son! Megan
Smith plays Principal Boy Jack, while to add to the confusion, Jack’s
sweetheart, Principal Girl, Jill, is played by Megan’s sister Emily!
We think that Greg will just be getting over the trauma
of these complicated relationships when he will have to face the new shock
of losing his beard for the role.
Mother Goose will be performed in the William Loveless
Hall on Wivenhoe High Street from Tuesday 22nd to Saturday 26th
January 2008. Performances
start at 7.30pm with an additional Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
Tickets are available at LONDIS and the lower Wivenhoe Post Office.
If you have never been to a Wivenhoe Pantomime before, you will find it
difficult to get tickets and for a good reason - it is popular, and that
it is because it is a thoroughly good night's entertainment, very well
written and performed. Do go, especially if you have not been before.
