Lyn Smith has always written songs.
Born in Liverpool, England, she sang in pubs in her home town until
she joined a signed band as backup vocalist. |
With
them she got to tour the UK and work with some well known producers (Glen
Tilbrook/Steve Levine/Wiliam Orbit...) The band split up after wriggling
out of an oppressive contract and since then Lyn has chosen to avoid the
corporate experience in favour of the equally challenging indie path.
The band split up after wriggling
out of an oppressive contract and Lyn began to develop her own music on
the London circuit. In 1999 she formed Carbon 13. The original line-up
gigged for three years of preparation for a 'live' sounding album.
At
the end of 2003 Lyn sold her home and funded the recording of
debut album "Under Your Skin" at Beethoven Street studio
in London with ridiculously talented producer Mark Ralph. They finished
the album the day before Christmas.
Liverpool DJ Billy Butler was the
first DJ to play a track from the album in May 2003. 'Thieves' got a great
review by the guest panel on "On the Beat".
"Summer" was played 40 times on "Storm pure rock
radio" in their Rock Revolution "Best of British Unsigned"
campaign.
The Carbons are hoping to be
playing at several festivals this summer.
