Wivenhoe
all set for family firework spectacular on 31st October
Wivenhoe Quay
Wivenhoe, 14 October 2009: For the second year running Wivenhoe and the
River Colne will be brightly illuminated by a magnificent charity firework
display at 8pm on Saturday, 31 October.
The firework spectacular, which is being organised by the Wivenhoe Ocean
Racing Club on behalf of the Royal British Legion Wivenhoe Branch Building
Fund, will commence following an official countdown by Mayor Neil Lodge.
The event is free of charge, but collectors will be milling among the crowds
to raise money for this good cause.
In addition to the fireworks, the Rose & Crown pub will be joining in the
fun by laying on a BBQ, Halloween fancy dress competition and traditional
apple-bobbing. After the fireworks the fun will continue with live music as
the pub plays host to the ever popular band the Judith Chalmers.
Commenting on the Wivenhoe Firework Spectacular Martyn Carrick of the
organizing committee said: “This event proved to be very popular last year
with people of all ages enjoying the fun and helping us to raise money for
charity. Fortunately we have plenty of space on the quay and with the
fireworks being lit from the Fingringhoe side of the Colne the views will be
amazing from almost any point along the Wivenhoe riverfront.
