November 2003 - Christmas lights in Wivenhoe

A team of more than 20 people have been out most weekends in November to erect Christmas lighting around Wivenhoe, working in some pretty appalling wet and slippery conditions.

The team has been led by Mary Hignell who has co-ordinated where the teams should go. Dave Sleightholm has once again worked hard throughout the year testing the lights, replacing the bulbs and making new designs to add to the already considerable stock of fittings which has been accumulated over the years. Replacing the blown light bulbs from last year was no mean feat and have cost £550.

The lights on St Mary's Church will be switched on by Town Mayor, Cllr Gilli Primrose on Thursday, 4th December, at 6pm to officially start the late Night Shopping evening, as well as the signal for all the lights in Wivenhoe to be switched on.
