February
07 - PC Steve May has retired as our Community Police Officer
Steve took over from PC Tracey Allen as
our Community Police Officer in November 2003. At that time he had been a
Police Officer for nearly 27 years, and had worked at Clacton, Walton,
Harwich and Mistley before transferring to the Colchester Division in
October 2002.
Many of us have got to know him in these
three years. Steve has been a very personable officer, always ready with a
smile and word of advice, and clearly caring in his approach as a police
officer.
For most his time he has had
responsibilities for more than just Wivenhoe and has often found himself
dealing with problems elsewhere. This has been frustrating for him as well
as for us in Wivenhoe.
Last year he told us he was looking to
take early retirement this January. He has achieved this target, retiring
at the end of January. Last
autumn though he had a health scare when he fell ill and the hospital were
unable to accurately diagnose his condition at first. Now that they have,
he has been responding well to treatment. Steve, hope you recover
completely very soon.
So Steve is now looking forward to
qualifying as a driving instructor and enjoying a less-stressed life
style.
Happy retirement Steve. Thank you for
what you have done here in Wivenhoe these last three years.
Congratulations on 30 years service in the police force serving the
public.
We look
forward to seeing you here from time to time.
Cllr Peter Hill
