May 2007 - Police powers for dog fouling and other anti-social offences

PCSO Louise Neville advises she is able to to issue fixed penalty tickets for the following offences:

Failure to remove dog waste Penalty £50 Max Penalty on conviction £1,000
Depositing Litter Penalty £75 Max Penalty on conviction £2,500
Unauthorised distribution of free printed matter - [Click here for more information]  Penalty £75 Max Penalty on conviction £2,500

Louise says "Even though I have the power to issue fixed penalty tickets in the categories above, I am reluctant to use them except as a last resort.  My attitude is prevention is better than cure!  People should note though that I can issue tickets and I’m not afraid to do so, especially for the dog fouling culprits!!"

Please note:  Doggy bags free of charge are available from the Town Council offices.

PCSO Louise Neville is a member of Wivenhoe's Neighbourhood Police team and can be contacted at the Wivenhoe Police Station on 01206 822082 or on the Wivenhoe police mobile: 07966 197245, or by e-mail:
