July 2007 - Serious Incident on King George V Playing Field

On the evening of Saturday 14th July there was an incident on King George V Playing Field. At approximately 2100hrs a couple were enjoying their evening when they were approached by a group of males. After a verbal altercation the couple were both assaulted and received serious injuries. This incident is being investigated by Colchester CID and the officer in charge of the case is Detective Sartini.

At this stage it can be confirmed that a number of people have been arrested and are helping police with their enquiries. The response we have had from the local community has been excellent with many people coming forward and providing valuable information. If you have any information regarding this incident please contact Colchester CID on 01206 762212.

Members of the public should feel reassured that even though this was a serious incident it is isolated. If you have any concerns please contact the Wivenhoe Policing Team.
