18th June 2006 - Police enforce 30mph limit in Wivenhoe

It's not just our local police who are concerned about speeding drivers, or police officers from the Stanway Traffic Control Unit who come to Wivenhoe more frequently than people think to operate different types of speed camera devices to monitor the speed of traffic, a police officer from the Essex Safety Camera Partnership was here on Sunday morning for while before moving to another Wivenhoe location.

Certainly one driver failed to spot the vehicle, and a few had to noticeably brake in order to go past it within the legal limit of 30mph.

Wivenhoe Town Council want to encourage good and safe driving in Wivenhoe's streets. We welcome and encourage these visits as a reminder to residents to moderate their driving speed to the legal limit.

The Essex Safety Camera Partnership is run by Essex County Council, Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, Thurrock Council, Highways Agency, Essex Police and Her Majesty's Courts Service. More information can be found on their web site: click here
