WIVENHOE COMMUNITY SAFETY NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH

Ken Rogers report for July 2003.

1.  Criminal Damage at another play area

The lower play area (Dixon Way) has been severely damaged due to the setting on fire of timber placed under equipment. This is a serious issue as the children commence their holidays this week. I sincerely apologise to the children and their parents that this criminal damage has taken place.

During the past five weeks there has been evidence of illegal drug taking in various parts of Wivenhoe. Police have been informed.

Any person with knowledge of those responsible for the criminal damage please contact the Community Police Officer Tracy Allen or myself.

2.  ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS

Two road traffic accidents have occurred. I understand, damage only with no personal injury near the Football Ground and near the Flag P.H. These are known possible black spots - please take care and warn others.

3.  MOTOR CYCLES

There are instances of speeding and other dangerous antics. Not only committed by youths, one person I advised for speeding and crossing the double white line in Rectory Hill was over 40 years! PLEASE PLEASE TAKE MORE CARE we do not want any further road deaths in Wivenhoe.

4.  SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

Parents are advised to remind their children not to be involved in anti-social behaviour and of the possible consequences of such action. Importantly advise re the dangers of taking illegal drugs in particular when consuming with alcohol. I am most concerned having to rescue youngsters who are unaware of wandering and sitting in the middle of the High Street. LIFE IS PRECIOUS.

Cllr. Ken Rogers.
Wivenhoe Community Safety Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator.
