HARLAND PAYNE PHOTO - STEPHANIE HARLAND & JUDY PAYNE

Commercial Photography & Reportage Wedding Photography
Creative Workshops for adults and children

Photography:Stephanie Harland

Stephanie Harland and Judy Payne are locally-based professional photographers who work in partnership as Harland Payne Photo. We work in all areas of photography & digital imaging and produce work for clients across a range of sectors, including education, health care, media, print, and music CDs - both locally and further a field, including London. We also work as wedding photographers and offer our clients a contemporary style of reportage photography.

Judy PayneWe are currently collaborating on a project with Grey Friars, the Adult Community College. Over the past few months we have been photographing a cross-section of adult education classes (and have even seen Joan Gifford's folk guitar class in full swing at the Greyhound), as a record of the diverse activities that take place across the centres. The photographs will be edited and printed in a book charting the interesting history of adult education in Colchester.

Teaching and Creative Workshops:

Collectively, we have a wide range of teaching experience and now combine our expertise as multi-media visual artists to deliver workshops in a range of media. Stephanie has taught at risk inner-city teenagers in Philadelphia, PA, USA and adults on Capitol Hill, Washington DC. Stephanie was also employed as an art lecturer at Colchester Institute and has worked as a freelance lecturer at colleges in Loughborough and Basingstoke. Judy is a popular teacher of photography and Photoshop at Grey Friars and was instrumental in establishing the digital imaging set-up at Colchester Institute Media Centre.

In recent months we have delivered short workshops in digital imaging, animation and drawing & painting to children and families within museums and galleries and at a local youth education centre. We enjoy working with mixed ages and abilities and have plans to run workshops with local schools and charity organisations. In April and August we will be leading a range of digital imaging workshops for adults at the Watershed Studio in St. Osyth and are expanding our workshops for families and children throughout 2005.

In our personal work, we are each planning a self-initiated documentary project and have an exhibition of work at Les Livres Gallery, Colchester, for a month from 26th April 2005. 'Up Town' will feature contemporary portraits of models and musicians (including images of musician Steve Harley) all shot at locations in Wivenhoe and Colchester. In 2003 Stephanie was awarded a gold medal by The Royal Photographic Society - click here for photo.
