The Wivenhoe Encyclopedia

15 November, 2003  -  Helen Lee, who lives in Colchester, is the artist in residence for the month of November at the tiny “Over-the-Sofa” gallery in The Wivenhoe Bookshop.

She spent last Saturday afternoon talking about her work to Bookshop visitors. She brought with her some of her sketchbooks which people were able to browse through, and she also brought some delicious homemade cakes and bottles of wine, which made the whole experience very enjoyable.

Helen’s drawing will be on display until 27th November after which there will be a retrospective of all those artists who have previously exhibited in the gallery.

They have all been asked to produce a work no larger than 7” x 7” so that they can all fit in! The exhibition of tiny pictures can be viewed in the bookshop from Saturday 29th November until the end of December.

Artist Helen Lee (right) talks about her work to Wivenhoe Bookshop customer Sarah Scattergood on the sofa.
