September 2006 - FANTASTIC 30TH BIRTHDAY PRESENT FOR THE WIVENHOE BOOKSHOP

What was meant to be a summer of celebration for the Bookshop turned in to a nightmare when the shop awning was burnt down and then the new awning was similarly attacked only four days after it was fitted.

But concerned customers rallied round, encouraged by Richard Barnard, and raised over £1,300 to help the Bookshop replace the awning with a more secure (fireproof ) one and to put in security measures.

It was the best birthday present ever because it showed just how much the Bookshop means to the community.
