October 2006 - Bernard Jenkin MP becomes Patron of Wivenhoe Town Football Club

Local MP Bernard Jenkin attended his first match at Broad Lane Sports Ground as patron of Wivenhoe Town Football Club to see the Dragons play Margate F.C. in the FA Carlsberg Trophy Match on Saturday 21st October, 2006.

Margate F.C. are presently 11th in the Ryman Premier Division whilst Wivenhoe play in Ryman Division One North with 16 points, lying just 6 points behind leaders Harlow Town.  Sadly, this FA Carlsberg match didn't see the Dragons rise to the occasion, and Manager Steve Pitt wasn't the only one disappointed with the losing result despite some good efforts by the Wivenhoe forwards.
