22nd April 2009: Absolute Beginners comedy night. Upstairs at

Description: For five weeks this spring, a group of would be comedians
have been honing their funny bones in a stand-up comedy course run at
the Greyhound pub. Come along and join them as they perform their
first ever stand-up gig in front of an audience!

Comedy Workshops
Stand-up comedy for beginners short course (5 weeks) - Wednesdays
6.30pm to 8pm from 4th March to 1st April - £10 per workshop
These classes will run through an introduction to finding subjects for
material, writing jokes, performing act-outs, improvisation,
overcoming stage-fright, microphone technique and how to get comedy
gigs - plus many more useful tips and ideas for the aspiring stand-up
comedy writer and performer. Throughout the classes students will work
on developing their own short stand-up comedy set, and will be given
the opportunity to perform at a showcase comedy night should they
wish. There will be more courses and workshops following from April.
I have been running comedy workshops and courses since 2004 at Essex
University, Colne Community College and as a freelance.
The classes cost £10 each (£8 concessions), but if you are able to
commit to all 5 and pay in advance there is a 10% discount.
