August 2006 - Wivenhoe Funny Farm Comedy Club News

Don’t forget that there is live comedy in Wivenhoe on next Thursday 31st August (and the last Thursday of every month) at Wivenhoe Town FC Clubhouse, Elmstead Road.

Thursday August 31st sees headliner Bill Bruce bringing his acerbic wit to Wivenhoe. Support from Essex University ’s own delightfully twisted Paul Byrne, Mel Barnes, Chris Martin. MC Hazel Humphreys

only £5 on the door. (£3.50 concessions*, £4 to Wivenhoe Football club members). To reserve a table for any of these nights email me on funnyfarmwiv@hotmail.com

In other news two of our upcoming acts for September have been nominated for top comedy awards at the Edinburgh Festival!

The nominees for the first if.comeddie awards (which replace the Perrier Awards) have been announced in Edinburgh.

Our MC for September 28th Josie Long has been nominated for Best Newcomer for her show “Kindness and Exuberance” whereas September’s headline Paul Sinha has been nominated for best act for his show “Saint or Sinha”.

Forthcoming events:

September 28th   features the award nominated Paul Sinha and Josie Long. Support from Manchester based acts Rodney Marques and Danny Deegan as well as Simon Dunn. 

October 26th promises to be an explosive gig with comedy LEGEND Chris Lynam headlining. If you don’t know about Chris’s famous party piece (as featured on TV by Paul Merton) – it has to be seen to be believed (There’s a picture here). Support comes from James Sherwood, Terry Saunders and Fiona Bacon.

November 30th sees yet another comedian whom you may know from your telly screens as Paul Foot debuts at the Funny Farm. Support includes the fabulous Izsi Lawrence and Charlie Baker as well as Richard Coughlan.
