Our last gig was on Thursday 17th November. Due to the lurgy going
round, there was a slightly lower turnout than on the first night, but
that didn't stop the fun.
As a fundraising stunt for Children in Need, Hazel Humphreys was asked
to train BBC radio Essex DJ Dave Monk (who confessed to being incapable of
telling a joke) to perform stand-up on the same night at the Funny
Farm.
Despite less than 30 minutes training live on air on Thursday, Dave
took to the stage and performed 3 and a half minutes that night to an
excellent reception. We raised £60 on the night, and the next morning BBC
Radio Essex raised an extra £616 by getting listeners to pledge to hear
snatches of Dave's performance.
Julia Boyle from the Football Club served her delicious and highly
popular home made chilli during the intervals. Only £2 a bowl.
Our next gig is on the Thursday 22nd December
and features the acclaimed deaf comedian Steve Day ("revelatory and
very funny" - The Guardian) Joint comperes for the evening will be
Hazel Humphreys AND Toby Cowards - and there will be lots of festive fun!
Support acts to be confirmed.
