| Wivenhoe
has long been renowned for attracting artists of all types, but it
is a rare and special occasion when you get twelve people from very
different disciplines all exhibiting at one show.
This is precisely what is going to happen this April with the
opening of an exhibition at the Boat House in
Alma Street
displaying arts as diverse as pottery, photography, paintings,
prints, sculpture, abstract reliefs and woodwork.
Some of the exhibitors will be
familiar names to anybody interested in the arts locally, whereas
others will have travelled some distance.
Ian Hay, Mick Smee and Pam Dan have exhibited their work over
many years, but this is an exciting opportunity to view new
paintings by them all, along with those of Cath West, who has lived
in Wivenhoe for many years. Ted
Atkinson, another Wivenhoe resident of longstanding, will be
displaying his prints and Simon Dan and Tim Multon their
photographs. Potters
Eddie Dan and Jill Christie (who normally exhibits her work in the
north-east) will be displaying their pottery along with sculpture by
Lesley Carruthers. Completing
this wide spectrum of exhibitors will be Sarah Dean who works in
wood, and Andrea Vaughan who produces abstract reliefs.
Three of the artists share a
surname, which is no coincidence.
Pam Dan’s two sons, Simon and Eddie, will both be
exhibiting with her for the first time, which is something of an
uncommon occurrence in the art world.
No matter what your preferences,
this exhibition promises to cater for all tastes and is an
opportunity which should not be missed.
Refreshments will be available and the artists look forward
to seeing you there.

of these artists, click here
